My favorite band of all time will be making new music yet again!! Drummer Chad Smith tells Billboard.com that he has earmarked the month of October as the month to reunite with his bandmates after spending most of the past year working on and promoting his Chickenfoot side project. The Chili Peppers decided on a one-year break after wrapping up promotion of their "Stadium Arcadium" disc, but one year had turned into two and now the group feels ready to return.
Smith says Flea and John Frusciante may arrive with some musical ideas, but most of their songs are derived from improvised jamming. At present, there is no firm release date for the disc.
"That's the plan (to return then)," he told Billboard. "It'll be two years in September, so now we're ready. You can't force people to play when they don't want to play or aren't ready to play or whatever – not in our band, anyway."
Smith said they would be likely to "do a lot of improvising and jamming and songs will come out of that. That's what we usually do. I don't know why it would be different".
