Green Lantern Is Going Anglo Saxon

We all had hopes that rapper Common would have played the roll of the John Stewart version of the Green Lantern in the upcoming movie in 2010. We learned back in April that he wasn't going to play the roll. But now all the rumors have been set clear and the roll of Green Lantern is going to Ryan Reynolds; who will be playing the Kyle Rayner version of the Green Lantern. His most recent work was in The Proposal opposite of Sandra Bullock. He beat out Bradley Cooper and Justin Timberlake for the roll as well. Shooting shall begin in January 2010.

Here is a little history of the Green Lantern:

The Green Lantern possesses a power ring that gives the user great control over the physical world as long as the wielder has sufficient willpower and strength to wield it. While the ring of the Golden Age Green Lantern (Alan Scott) was magically powered, the rings worn by all subsequent Lanterns were technological creations of the Guardians of the Universe, who granted such rings to worthy candidates. These individuals made up the intergalactic police force known as the Green Lantern Corps.
