Gay Marriage In Maine=NO

A proposal for gay marriage will be placed on hold in the state of Maine due to a sufficient amount of citizens signatures to enact a "peoples veto." 55,000 signatures were gathered in a span of four weeks to qualify the measure.

Once the signatures are certified by the state, the Law will be placed on hold until after the November election. Gay marriage was expected to be legal in the state on September 12, 2009.

The New England states have been on a role as of late with allowing gay marriage in their states and it was looking like Maine wouldn't have been far behind but one can only dream.
