Man Falls Down Elevator Shaft

A legally blind man was off to pick u his morning mail and fell 25 feet to his death when the elevator malfunctioned and opened its doors without the lift actually being there.

Sheldon Scott was discovered at the bottom of an elevator shaft in Riverdale New York after friends and family could not find him anywhere.

The elevator in his building is an older elevator and it has an old fashion swinging door that is supposed to only release once the car arrives to the correct floor.

The incident was caused by a faulty mechanical device. Residents in the building say the two elevators were always breaking down. The renovations for the elevator started before the tragedy actually took place.
