Its official, the law makers of the state of New York are now allowing the birth certificates of children born to same sex couples to sign their names on the birth certificates. The law was changed due to a lawsuit filed by a lesbian couple who are about to deliver their first child.
Although the rule change wont automatically guarantee both parents of having the same legal rights over their child immediately, it will give the non biological parent the normal rights of a parent within a hospital [i.e. nursery visits].
