Gay Marriage Making A Comeback

The California Attorney General has released a statement stating he would like to the Supreme Court to void the ban on gay marriage. General Jerry Brown says the proposition violates the state constitution because it denies a traditionally underrepresented group a fundamental right. The sponsors for Prop 8 wants the courts to null and void about 18,000 same sex marriages.

"It became evident that the Article 1 provision guaranteeing basic liberty, which includes the right to marry, took precedence over the initiative. Based on my duty to defend the law and the entire constitution, I concluded the court should protect the right to marry even in the face of the 52 percent vote"
