Gay Partnership Rights Ok in Washington State

Finally in the state of Washington same sex couples are going to have the same right as married couples in the state! Supporters of the bill say it offers gay couples fairness that has been denied to them since 1998 due to the Defense of Marriage Act.

The bill passed on Tuesday with a 30-18 vote. The senate rejected two Republican amendments including one that would send this to the voters. And we all know how that would have turned out [California election 2008].

Since Tuesday 5,112 domestic partnerships registrations have been filed since the law took effect.
